Signal flow and technical rig
saudio signal flow starts off by sound going through the mic, into the stob, then through the rack. that sound is controlled by a sound mixer which can have control over DVD's, CD's and MP3's. That controlled sound is then sent through the speakers at the chosen volume. The sound also get's to the HDD through the programme line out recorder, then programme line out, then the HDD.
Visual signal flow is a shorter journey and more simple, starts off with the video camera which goes through the programmes line, through the rack, then stob and goes to the vision mixer which is what the chosen shots are controlled by.

DVD operation and insert requirments
A DVD operation dure in a live show is critical. you need to be organised and insert the visuals and audio and then burn it on to DVD well before the show goes on air. Plus you need to know when in the show to play the DVD so that person would need a script. To make it easier you can copy it from the DVD and save it as a file on to computer so you can just hit the play button.

Directing and directors calls
The director is the one incharge. He or she will sit in a room with a vison mixer and an assistant director and will talk to all the camera operators. He or she will call a camera number and then call cut, the vision mixer will then press the number camera that the director called and that camera will be on air. For example: coming to camera 4, cut, button pressed, camera 4 is on air. They will know this due to the red light that is solid on top of there camera. The director can also talk to the floor manager and discuss where the talent should be sitting. They will also ask if everyone is ready before they go on air.

Planning camera placements and shots
Getting the shots you want, you need to put the cameras in the right place. So if you want a camera constantly shooting a wide shot, then you would have it right at the back. If you wanted a two shot then you would have the camera left or right of the studio in front of the audience.

Planning audio coverage
When plannign audio coverage on a live show you need to know when to play it at the right time. therefore you need to be given a script. Plus you need to be aware of how long the coverage is, what does it sound like, is it good quality and does it have any bad words that need to be edited out.

Talk backs and there use
Talk backs are communcation pieces of equipment where the director and camera operators, sound operators, floor managers use to talk to each other. if you are on sound you have to pull a leaver to talk to the director or floor manager. camera operators have a little button on the side of there camera to talk to the director but they can hear everything that goes on anyway. Floor manager can hear everying that is going on and can use there talk back to the director and sound operators. Directors are also aware of everything being said although they can use there talk back to anyone.

Planning and designing a set
Planning a set you need to work out measurements, shapes, colours, materials, whats it's going to look like and you need to do that baring in mind, the size of the studio you are puting it in. When you have planned all this, you need to design it. Designing it could be drawing on big planks of wood, sticking masking tape to it and then painting over it to give you the picture of you're set.

Planning and lighting the set
when having lighting in the studio, first of all you need to decide what types of lights you want such as cool lights, spotlights and plan where you want them. When it comes to lighting the set you need to find out what percentage of light you need on the set depending on what colours the talents are wearing and the colour of the set.

Efficient rehearsal and recording practice
To make sure everyone can do there job wasting little time possible. Camera operators have to get use to the equipment and shots that directors want them to do sound operators have to be confident that the sound is at the correct level, lighting operators have to know what to do with the lights and when.

Technical rehearsals
technical rehearsals are to get the technical equipment running at the right levels before the real recording shoot. people on sound will have to get the levels right on the mics because some people talk louder than others. The cameras will have to be at the right exposure so that the colours on the set look bright but at the same time, what the camera can cope with without confussion. Plus the director may run to a script on what shots he or she wants to open with durer in the show, so the director will have to see how that looks before hand.
